The wizards of Rokmil have remained influential in Rokmil since its creation. They've had a hand in all major events concerning Rokmil. The wizards used their influence to acquire all of the southern section of the city. Now this part of the city is only inhabited by wizards, their attendants, their apprentices, and their families.
The Blue watch patrols and keeps the peace in this area of the city. The Blue Watch is indebted to the wizards for providing them with scrolls used by the magically-proficient members of the watch. Today the wizard's section is just as if not more safe than the noble's section of the city. The path from the main part of the city to the wizard's section is constantly patrolled by guards as well as continuous scrying devices.The organization of the wizards is the secret of their influence. They run their policies by means of a wizard's council (dubbed the Coven by the commoner - when they are well out of ear shot from any spellcaster)
Eonya is one of the oldest wizards in Rokmil. Almost a dozen of her apprentices have grown up and are now active members in the wizard's council. She was a ruthless politician when she was younger and dealt with the nobles. However she has long since left the council to the younger mages. She now focuses on her studies now and is working on writing a series of books to leave for the instruction of future wizards. She is well respected in her community of spellcasters, but the nobles resent her. Their respect (or fear) of her skill in negotiation stays their tongue from ever saying anything about her, but they are counting the days until she passes away and leaves their lives forever.
Colten is one of the most powerful members on the council. He is in charge of maintaining a positive relationship with the commoners and the wizards. The fear the commoners have of the wizards will never go away, but the gifts the wizards give the commoners makes sure they will always carry more weight with the (numerous) commoners than the nobles do.
In fact Colten spearheaded a water sanitation program that has a group of wizards periodically cleansing the water supplies of the city. It took a while for people to start drinking it (fearing the potential of fiendishly fluoridating the water), but once they started they loved the taste of water that didn't taste like it was just used to wash a horse.
