Training, Experience, And Mentoring for first-year GTAs

Project TEAM (Training, Experience, And Mentoring for first-year GTAs) is a new initiative in the Department of Mathematics at The University of Arizona, partially funded by an S-STEM grant. The purpose of this project is to provide a formative teaching experience to new GTAs, and to establish a nuturing environment in which they can make the transition from undergraduate student to graduate student and teacher. TEAM pairs each new GTA with a TEAM mentoring teacher who serves as a mentor and guide. Mentoring teachers are experienced instructors, and are typically members of the instructional faculty in the Math Department. Together the GTA and mentoring teacher form an instructional pair that work together to teach a class of 35 entry-level students.
