Ryan, One of the most common reasons for installation errors of activation key problems is that a student registered their account as "For Student Use" rather than "For Academic Use". Our activation key only works with accounts that have been established as Academic accounts rather than Student accounts (I realize it's a subtle distinction, but it's one that is important to Mathworks and their activation key). If any of your students have created their account as Student Accounts rather than Academic Accounts, they can follow these instructions to switch over: 1. Log into your mathworks account at www.mathworks.com 2. After logging in, click on the 'My Account' link on the top right. 3. Click on the 'Edit Profile' link on the left navigation. 4. Once in the edit profile mode, change your email to anything other than your u of a email. (yahoo, hotmail, gmail, etc, it doesn't matter as long as it is NOT email.arizona.edu) 5. click on the 'submit' button. 6. Log out. 7. Go back to www.mathworks.com 8. Click on the 'create account' link. 9 Fill out the necessary fields, and make sure to use your UA email address. 10. IMPORTANT: make sure you choose the 'academic use' option under the "* How Will You Use The MathWorks? Software" menu. Other than this, we haven't seen any widespread issues with installing Matlab on Macs or PCs. If any of your students have issues beyond this activation key issue, I'd encourage them to come see us at the 24/7 IT Support Center in the Martin Luther King Student Center. We're open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so they can come by literally anytime. If you or any of your students have any questions, feel free to give us a call at 626-8324 (option 3) or reply directly to this email. Good luck, Daniel Schneider 24/7 IT Support Center
