Energizer Workshop Descriptions


LET'S PLAY in the Primary Grades


In this workshop you will learn how to make and play games addressing these areas: mastery of addition and subtraction facts, reinforcement of place value concepts (tens and ones), introduction of multiplication and division concepts, practice with estimation and number sense, using a calculator and more. In addition, many of the game formats can be easily adapted to other topics and other subject areas.

LET'S PLAY in the Intermediate Grades


In this workshop you will learn how to make and play games addressing these areas: mastery of multiplication and division concepts and facts, reinforcement of place value concepts, introducing and extending fraction ideas, using a calculator and more. In addition, many of the game formats can be easily adapted to other topics and other subject areas.



Measurement Activities for Primary Students

In this workshop you will experience a variety of activity centers and lessons which help to develop children's awareness of measurement concepts using a informal approach. Workshop materials include the topics of area, volume, length and weight using both non-standard and standard units. Lessons address number sense and estimation as they relate to measurement and units of measure.


Geometry and Measurement Activities for Intermediate Students

In this workshop you will experience lessons which introduce geometric terminology and elementary topics in geometry using manipulatives, games and geometric tools. In addition, we will look at the customary and metric measurement systems explaining how they developed and how they are related.
