About Me
I have already stated that I am a grad student here at the University of Arizona. Here are some other things about me.
I recently got married to my awesome wife, Jessica in beautiful Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Together, we have two dogs: Ezra, a five-year old miniature dachshund and Dora, a two-year old great dane. It can be trying at times, but we love them very much. They make life much more interesting, that is for sure. Aside from mathematics, I have many hobbies.
I am a very avid reader. I love everything from contemporary fiction a la Chuck Palahniuk, Cormac McCarthy and Philip Roth to the idealistic classics of Ayn Rand. I was very impressed recently with the awesome Diet for a New America by John Robbins. My wife and I are transitioning to an all-natural vegan diet due in no small part to this far-reaching work. I recommend it highly to anyone who appreciates compelling arguments with only minimal (but, still thorough) scientific data presentation.
One of my other loves in life is rock climbing. I have been climbing now for close to ten years. I typically stick to just sport climbing and bouldering. However, one of my "bucket list" entries is to climb the Nose on El Cap at Yosemite. I have ''cut my teeth'' on trad climbing this past season though. Scary, but quite a rush!
Among other things I enjoy, time permitting, are cooking, assembling robots, and music (I play drums and guitar). Check out my former band My Former Wings on Myspace.
Professionally, I am a Senior Systems Engineer with Raytheon Missile Systems. The work is challenging and rewarding, at times. It is nice to be a part of a company with such vast resources.
Along with the challenges of leading a very active lifestyle, I have Crohn's disease. The disease is quite terrible and my thoughts and prayers go out to all who suffer from this disease or who know those who do. I recently went through an ordeal of multiple surgeries last year to correct what had become life-threatening complications due to this disease. The best advice I can give is to buy Dr. David Klein's book and understand the material contained in it.
