Office Hours.

Tuesday from 2-2:50 pm in Math East 145 (Tutoring Room) and Wednesday from 2-3:50 pm in Gould Simpson 829 (Deb's office).

Statistics Tutoring in the Math East Building, Room 145. The complete schedule will be posted on the Course Web Page.

Class Tuesday and Thursday 9:30-10:45 am in PAS 304

Textbooks,. Introduction to the Practice of Statistics, 7th Edition, by David S. Moore & George P. McCabe is required. You will also need a
WebAssign account for Section 5 of Math 263 for online homework. WebAssign class key for this section is arizona 7989 8719

Excel: Each student should have access to Office 2010 or 2013 on a PC or Office 2011 on a Mac.

Assignments:
On-line homework will be given on WebAssign.
In addition, there will be Excel problems which require computer generated answers and written work. These will be handed in on paper in class.
Late assignments will not be accepted.

Quizzes: There will be some in-class quizzes. There are no makeups for quizzes.

Examinations. Three midterm examinations will be given in class on
    Tuesday February 4
    Tuesday March 4
    Tuesday April 15
The final examination will be Tuesday, May 13, 2014, from 8 -10 am.
A missed midterm examination or a missed final examination will result in a score of zero for that work. The first midterm examination will be worth 50 points and the second two midterms will be worth 125 points each. The final examination will be worth 200 points.

Course Grades. Midterm examinations will be worth 300 points, and the final examination will be worth 200 points. Online homework will be worth 100 points, and Excel assignments and in-class quizzes (combined) will be worth 100 points. At the end of the semester, grades will be assigned based on the following scale:

Calculators. Each student is required to have a graphing calculator, such as a TI-83, that can do statistical calculations, including correlation and linear regression. Some examination questions will require such a calculator. Calculators cannot be shared during exams.

Class Attendance, Instructor's Web Page, and email.  Students are responsible for all information provided in class and on the course and instructor's web pages. Students who do not attend class will be administratively dropped. Any student who is excused from class for attendance at an officially authorized event must provide a written excuse signed by the Dean of Students no later than one week after the absence. Students are responsible for information sent by email.

Dropping The Course. The last day to drop without a signature is Tuesday, February 11, and the last day to drop with a grade of ``W'' (if passing) is Tuesday, March 11.

Incomplete Grades. If a student fails to complete the course due to circumstances unforeseen, then he or she may qualify for a grade of I, ``incomplete'' if all of the conditions are met:

  1. The student has completed all but a small portion of the required work.
  2. The student has scored at least 50% on all work completed.
  3. The student has a valid reason for not completing the course on time.
  4. The student agrees to make up the material in a short period of time.
  5. The student asks for the incomplete before grades are due -- 48 hours after the final exam.
